Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Built By Machine ("we", "the app") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Built By Machine lets you describe an app and have it built and hosted for you. Processing happens on our servers and through the model providers listed below — the app itself does not run generated code on your device.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and display name, and your password (stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text).
• Content you create — the project briefs and prompts you write, chat messages, documents you upload, agent build logs, custom agent rules/system prompts, and your app settings.
• Your own model provider keys (optional) — if you choose to bring your own model-provider API key, it is stored encrypted at rest and used only to make requests on your behalf.
• Usage data — token counts and request metadata used to meter usage and bill accurately.
• Payment information — handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We store a customer/subscription identifier and non-sensitive card metadata (card brand and last four digits). We never store full card numbers.
• Security & session data — authentication sessions, security tokens, and rate-limiting counters used to keep your account secure.

How we use your information

• To provide the core service: generate, build, and host your apps.
• To authenticate you and keep your account and data secure.
• To meter usage and process billing for paid plans.
• To operate, maintain, and improve the reliability of the service.
• To communicate with you about your account or the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train our own models.

Third-party services

To deliver the service we share the minimum necessary data with:

• Model providers (such as OpenRouter, Featherless AI, and Hugging Face) — your prompts and project content are sent to generate results.
• Stripe — to process payments for paid plans.
• GitHub — only if you connect it, to create and manage repositories for your projects.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deleting your account permanently removes your projects, documents, chats, memories, and settings, and cancels any active subscription. This action cannot be undone.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, and any provider API keys you supply are encrypted at rest.

Children

Built By Machine is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
